3 Fonteinen Kriek van Schaerbeekse Krieken

schaerbeek.gifWow… that was a ride. Tender, full bodied, sour though still sweet, with a nice ‘old’ aftertaste. We tried to came up with a nice word for the aftertaste, but failed to do so. It’s ‘old’ in way.

I asked for a dark, though sour, kriek at Akkurat. Johan, one of the bartenders came up with this one. And spot-on it was. If you have some cash to spend (the bottle we ordered was 305 SEK for 75cl.), it’s well worth the effort. We’ve been pondering a bit on what kind of food you could drink this beer to and we came up with reindeer with some lingonberry sylt/marmelade. Try it… it’s mindblowing.

Unfortunately not available at Systembolaget, so you’ll have to head for Akkurat or any other beer specialized pub.

I would call the after taste “well ventilated cellar”.

Hmm.. that sounds way to negative to me actually. It’s more the taste of “warm cherries on a nice cheesecake” kind of taste to me.
